very cool AD. Nice pics. I'm stopping by the local shop in the morning. It's kind of pawn shop, but better described as mostly guns ammo and related stuff. He had one or two similar to that last time I was there.

Considering a shotgun and also gonna ask about SKS. Sometimes he has those too. Or AK's... etc. I love the place.

Alright, now I'm pissed! You get nothing but props for getting a TEC-9, while I got nothing but jeers from people when I had one back in the 90's! They all told me it was a cheap POS, but I loved it anyway...

:bawling: :bawling: I miss my TEEEEEC!!!

Congrats on your purchase, AD.

The only draw back to one of those little wire stocks is the NFA (National Firearms Act) and without the proper paper from the BATF its considered a Felony.

Putting a cute little wire stock on the "Pistol" would be fine if the barrel is 16 inches long and the OAL over all length is 26 inches (Federal law).

Your State law may restrict even more.

For some reason I've never been interested in snub-nosed revolvers before, but while I was researching potential pistols for my mother, who just learned to shoot at the age of 72, I kind of got enchanted with the idea of having a pocket-sized gun. It sure is a cute little thing!

That is a badass looking pistol. I hear the recoil isn't too bad, either. It would be fun to shoot at night. I'll bet the muzzle blast is spectacular!

One of my favourites is the 44 mag Ruger GP100 with a 6" barrel. Perhaps not the most accurate or best trigger in the world (although quite acceptable),
but very rugged build. The Alaskan .44's look great too and carry a big punch in a relatively small unit, perfect for wandering around bear country.

I have a Ruger GP-100 in .357 (6-inch barrel). The GP-100s are good guns for the price. They do seem to be build pretty ruggedly.

Re: My new pistol

I had a chance to shoot a S&W .500 and was blown away at how little recoil there was for such a large round (there's a good bit of powder behind it). I can only assume the heftiness of the weapon as well as the "cab forward" design mitigates a lot of the recoil. That is not to say the gun doesn't kick the snot out of your hand but it seemed to hit lighter than a lot of .44 mags I have shot.

rhoggman 10-13-2008 06:36 PM

I just shot a Smith & Wesson 500 (Performance Version) 6.5' barrel w/ compensator.

We shot 400gr hollow points. There was quite a bit of recoil, and much more than any 44 mag I have ever shot. In fact the other shooters around us all quit shooting to come over and look at what the hell we were shooting.

The guy next to us was shooting a 7MM Mag rifle and there was no comparison in the noise factor. The S&W 500 was an amazing revolver.

There is considerable recoil, but manageable if you know how to shoot. I put a nice shot group on the head :)

Yeah, I think it's just a codpiece......

I ordered one anyways and I'll give a range report with & without the codpiece. To me it looks darn cool and adds to the 'scary' factor that the anti-gun crowd seem to dislike...........yep, I'm doing it for spite - so there. :s15:

I've been wanting to buy a double barrel 12 guage (stagecoach replica type) that he carries. He can get them in 12, 20 or 410. All he had was a 20 yesterday so I had him order a 12. Should have it in less than a week. Just one of those things I want. I'll post a pic when I get my hands on it.

He still has one of those tec-9 but wants too much for it. I didn't even deal since I want the other guns first. He's gonna look out for a couple of SKS for me and my cuz. Had a nice looking Ak too.

This is all taking place in NM which is where I'm hangin' these days. I love the west.

Hey Heimdhal,
Speaking of guns and "Stand Your Ground", I sat on a jury yestarday in the PB County courthouse. We found the guy innocent of battery, and acquitted him based on a defence of "self-defence". State of FL v. Clark, Her Honor Judge Sandra Bosso-Pardo presiding.
What dipshits these kids are. I can say that I was not th ebrightest 19 year old in human history, but these kids had thier heads up thier asses and were up to thier asses in high school drama that the yshould have left behind 3 years ago!!
All the players were about 19 (all 6 of them) except for one, and all the players were female, except for 2. All white.
After the 1 day trial ended, we the jury approached the State's Attorney and asked why the State decided to push this to trial, as it seemed clear enough to ALMOST have had the charges dismissed, based on self-defense.
As it turned out, the battery happened very very soon after the guy allegedly commiitted another crime, and the State wanted to get the guy on the stand so they could "open the door" to other things, for his probable next trial. The State told us that a "Not Guilty" verdict was expected, but the State was more concerned about his alleged involvent in other crimes. Once the defendant took the stand in THIS trial, anything he says can be dug up and revisited, and expanded upon, in his next trial.
So basically, I sat in court all day listening to a bunch of 19 year olds, most female, LIE to everyone in the court about what happened that night. *sigh* They could not even get thier stories straight!
About 2/3 of the way through the trial myself and my 6 FEMALE co-jurors figured out what had really happened. When we were given the case and asked to deliberate, it was interesting to hear from 6 grown women what REALLY happened. There was NO DOUBT in my mind that the defendant hit the girl, and no doubt why. I was unclear on a few points, such as the "why were these other girls fighting" part of it, but the 6 female jurors all set me straight. EVERY juror felt that the defendant did the right thing by stepping in bewteen two women, one of who was (most probably) pregnant, and punching the agressor 19 year old female in the nose. We deliberated as long as it took me (I was elected foreman) to poll each juror for thier vote and thoughts, another 5 minutes for general discussion about the case. We returned Not Guilty to the Judge, oh, in about 15 minutes tops. Our jury was one college educated white male, ex-military, 40's (me), a late 20's white female, a late 40's white female, a 40's afro-carribbean woman from Haiti that has been here 29 years, another afrocarribbean woman about 40 that has been here almost her whole life, a late 40's American Black woman with amazing insight, and a late 40's Spanish woman that has been here for at least 30 years. Economic range of the jurors... I have no idea. So, we had a cultural cross section of Palm Beach I would say. We needed a unanomous veridct (6 votes) or the jury would hang.
But, with 5 women and one man (6 +1 alternate at first, then the alternate is sent home when we went to deliberate) we all agreed that the defendant was absolutley justified in hitting the girl in the nose.
Freaky... I know I would hate to be on trial for a murder. Wow, with the "wrong" jury, a person could end up in the electric chair! *LOL* It is AMAZING how many of the jurors DID NOT WANT TO BE THERE. They were QUITE vocal about it also.
I was happy to serve and see it as my duty as a Citizen (in the Roman sense of Citizen) to serve. Wow, not so everyone else in the jury, or the general jury pool.
I was AMAZED at how many DUMB people there were in that jury selection process. The attorneys were asking us very basic questions during the selection process (Voir DIre) and some of these people had MASSIVE MASSIVE problems conceptualizing and comprehending what the attorneys were asking them. I mean, BASIC concepts, things that I understood in junior high school. It makes my balls crawl to think that some of these DOLTS might actually make it to a jury someday. *whew*
Luckily the attorneys weeded them out and we had a batch of fairly perceptive folks empanelled on our jury.
So, that is our Justice System in action here in Palm Beach County at work.

Hey Maddie, I just bought the same revolver a couple days ago, actually it's the 642-2 (stainless steel) and with a frikkin' laser. :10_1_20:

I went to the range and shot it yesterday for the first time with Magtech ammo. After 50 rounds I've got a blister on my thumb to show for it. Next time I'm gonna try it out with Federal Premium low recoil ammo instead.

Overall it's a really sweet little gun. With and without the laser I had pretty much the same results. Cleaning it was super easy.

HEADS UP - S&W is offering a $50 rebate. http://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore...H08_coupon.pdf

Re: My new pistol

Oooh! You got the fricken laser! I gave some serious thought to getting one with laser sights. I'm still thinking about adding Crimson Trace sights to it. I figured I'd shoot it before I decided if I wanted to put more money into it. I haven't taken mine out shooting yet and probably won't get to for another week.

Thanks for the heads up about the rebate! Awesome! :ARMS1:
